ECONOMIC RESEARCH CENTER AMONG WORLD’S TOP THINK TANKS
Economic Research Center awarded of 133rd place under “Top think tanks in the world” category and 9th place under “Top think tanks in advocacy” category
Economic Research Center ( ERC) occupied 133rd place among top world think tanks, including well-known think tanks from the USA under “ Top think tanks in the world” category. The first 3 places were taken by Brooking University (USA), Chatham House (United Kingdom) and Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (United States) respectively.
ERC demonstrated very promising result in the next category by marking history in the activities of Azerbaijan think tanks. Thus, Economic Research Center was 9th place under “Top Think Tanks in Advocacy” category. The first places under this category are as follows: 1 – Amnesty International (Great Britain); 2 – Human Rights Watch (Great Britain); 3 – Transparency International (Germany).
It should be noted that 6603 think tanks from 182 countries involved to “2012 Global Go To Think Tanks Index Report” prepared by Pennsylvania University, USA. And 13 of those think tanks were from Azerbaijan. In addition, Center for Economic and Social Development, and Center for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan occupied significant places in numerous categories. Besides, other thin tanks from Azerbaijan – National Budget Group ( NBG), Center for Innovation in Education ( CIE) and “ Priority” organizations engaged in single categories. The staff of ERC conveys their congratulations to our local colleagues.
There were 1950 experts and peer institutions participated in this year’s ranking process and the report’s publication is the culmination of an eight-month process involving the support of thinktanks and experts from every region of the world.
The Rankings’ primary objective is to recognize some of the world’s leading public policy thinktanks and highlight the notable contributions these institutions are making to governments and civilsocieties worldwide.
