Gubad Ibadoglu participated at the Anti-Corruption event of the United Nations
Gubad Ibadoglu, the chairman of management board of Economic Research Center, was on official visit by an invitation of the United Nations, during 20-23 March in Johannesburg, the capital of South African Republic.
The main purpose of the visit was to participate at the international conference on anti-corruption which was organized by the United Nations and was held on 19-23 March. From more than 50 countries, experts and researchers of non-governmental organizations, specialized on increasing transparency and combating corruption, participated at the conference. As Azerbaijan’s representative at the conference, Gubad Ibadoglu made a presentation about corruption level of the country and anti-corruption efforts of government, civil society institutions and media. Furthermore, Mr. Ibadoglu shared his views with the participants of the conference and answered their questions about both realizations of “National Strategy on Increasing Transparency and Anti-Corruption during 2007-2011 in Azerbaijan” and a new strategy which was being prepared.
Moreover, there were intensive discussions about assessment methodology and mechanisms of UN’s Anti-corruption convention and joint collaborative activities of civil society institutions were planned in this field.
It should be noted that Economic Research Center is the member of UN’s Anti-Corruption coalition since last year.
