Gubad Ibadoglu spoke about issues and perspectives of civil society in Azerbaijan in the international conference.
Public participation in decision making process in the countries of the region was discussed in the meeting of think tanks held in Bishkek.
The head of Public Initiative Center Mr. Gubad Ibadoglu participated in the international conference held from 28th of May to 31th of May in Issyk-Kul and on 1st of June in Bishkek, and organized by Policy Association for an Open Society (PASOS) which unites more than 50 think tanks from 28 European countries. On the 1st of June in Bishkek, in the conference organized by the participation of civil society members, representatives of governments, local and foreign experts of Central Asia and South Caucasus, Mr. Ibadoglu made a presentation on public participation of civil society of Azerbaijan in decision making process.
During his speech he focused on formation of think tanks in Azerbaijan, issues they face in their activities and perspectives. Mr. Ibadoglu shed a light on monopolization of decision making process by executive authorities and explained it with the long term control of the system by pro-soviet bureaucrats and with the red tape they create. He also mentioned issues generated by the legislation and its implementation.
In his speech Mr. Ibadoglu noted Extracting Industries Transparency Initiative as a remarkable example for the countries of the region in which companies, government and civil society cooperates.
The expert of public Finance Monitoring Center Kanan Aslanli and the expert of Support to Free Economy Public Union Fuad Jafarli represented think tanks of Azerbaijan at the event and made speeches
