Azerbaijan should be ready for post-oil era

The debate over development models of post-oil period was organized at the conference hall of Economic Research Center on October 02, 2012. Economics, experts and head of NGOs operating in soci-economic sphere, including academician Rafig Aliyev participated at the event. The participants mainly focused on prevention of oil-oriented development of the country, and presented models for sustainable development after depletion of huge oil revenue inflows.

During the presentation, it was emphasized that it is essential to utilize realistic data and materials during preparation of economic development models. Thus, non-realistic, exaggareated and political-pronness figures used for models will be ineffective. R.Aliyev also considered that it is necessary to be prepared for post-oil era and to formulate economic development model that will envisage itself the economic development of the country. He mentioned the importance of preparaing such model from local and also capabale foreign experts. After the presentation participants held discussions over the topic. During discussions, it was also stressed the importance of creating liberal market atmosphere, equal development of all sectors of the economy. The participants also mentioned the possibilities of establishing equal opportuninities for development of other sectors as well. Therefore, it is very important to identify the sectors in advance that will be supported by the government. The event pursued with discussions.
