The chairman of the Economic Research Center participated at the event in Tbilisi organized by the European Commission
On September 5-6, “Neighborhood East Civil Society Facility Networking Event” was organized by the European Commission. This event was organized within the framework of “ Civil Society: Dialogue for Progress” project funded by the EU.
The conference was attended by over 100 representatives of civil society from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova. The delegation of Azerbaijan was included the representatives of the European Union in Azerbaijan, including “ Oxfam-Azerbaijan”, Entrepreneurship Development Foundation, Center for Economic and Social Development, Center for Research on Women's Issues and the Economic Research Center.
The chairman of ERC Galib Togrul represented the organization at this event. Initially, the session dedicated to countries was organized and the main aim of this session was to reveal both success stories and problems of implemented projects. Afterwards, “the role of foreign donors”, “contribution of local governmental agencies to the development of society”, “Trust to civil society”, “Advocacy” and other topics were discussed at 7 panels. After each panel the results of the discussions were presented and discussed.
Furthermore, an exhibition was held within the frames of this event and the main objective of this event was to present the achievements of organization funded by “ Civil Society: Dialogue for Progress” and exchange of experiences.
At the end of the conference, the broad discussions were held over the outcomes and expectations and the recommendations on strengthening of civil society organizations were underlined as well.
