Michael Weichert, Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Regional Director for the South Caucasus, paid a visit to Economic Research Center

On 4th of July, Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Regional Director for the South Caucasus - Michael Weichert visited the office of Economic Research Center (ERC). He was accompanied by Stiftung Country Director for Azerbaijan – Rashad Huseynli. ERC board members – Gubad Ibadoglu, Fuat Rasulov and Galib Togrul participated at the meeting. Gubad Ibadoglu informed the guests about the current economic conditions and status of civil society in Azerbaijan. G. Ibadogli underlined the importance of enhancing social dialog in the society.
Later Fuat Rasulov talked about a project funded by Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung and implemented by Republic Committee of Independent Labor Union of Culture Workers and Azerbaijan Republic Independent Labor Union of Construction Complex Workers last year and informed the guests about the latest successes and current problems of labor unions in Azerbaijan. F. Rasulov mentioned that ERC gave trainings to managements of first labor unions in two regions – Shaki and Ganja in Azerbaijan. F. Rasulov added that the partnership with the Stiftung was very important for the development of labor unions in Azerbaijan.
Michael Weichert, in his turn, expressed his gratefulness to the ERC board members for the detailed information about the economy and civil society in Azerbaijan and emphasized the importance of cooperation between ERC and Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung.
