The training on “Making Contact: Tools for Building Effective Communication” was conducted for think tanks

The Economic Research Center conducted the training on “Making Contact: Tools for Building Effective Communication” within the framework of “Enhancing the effectiveness of government by strengthening the role of think tanks in decision-making arena” project funded by the European Union (EU) and in partnership with Policy Association for an Open Society ( PASOS) and “Intelligent Citizen” Enlightenment Center (ICEC) . The main aim of the training was to assist partner think tanks in collecting information, applying the studied knowledge to promote their activities through posters, booklets, books and others, including preparation of online surveys and delivering presentations via PREZI program, process and install data through SPSS software program.

This training was conducted by Alfredo Azulo (the Communications Manager for the Policy Association for an Open Society (PASOS) and Seymur Cavadov (expert of Caucasus Research Resource Center).

The training was attended by representatives of 18 partner think tanks from Ganja, Shaki and Baku and the chairman of Management Board of ERC, Galib Bayramov delivered opening remarks at this event. He briefed the participants about the project as well as the goals of the training.

On the first day of the training, A.Azulo covered “Communication principles”, “ Data visualization- concepts and examples”. The second day of the training was dedicated to “ Online surveys”, “ Collecting information through internet”, “ Practical programs ( Google drive, Instagram, Prezi) and “ Design of publication materials”. These topics were applied through practical exercises and group works.

On the second day of the training, S.Cavadov taught participants about SPSS program, transferring data designed in Excel into SPSS, including making relevant changes on data, use of “ Stat transfer” program, anticipated problems and the way of eliminating them. Additionally, the trainer provided broad information over “ Analysis through SPSS” and the attendees were involved to group works in order to have clear understanding about the above mentioned programs.
